White Lion Beer & Cider Festival 2018

This weekend we are opening our arms and welcoming everyone along to The White Lion, Sawley for our annual beer festival!

Running from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd July, the festival will offer beer lovers access to 32 cask ales and 16 real ciders throughout the weekend. There will be a strong showing from a range of local brewers and cider makers including Hinckley's Elliswood Brewery, Leatherbritches Brewery of Ashby de la Zouch and Landlocked Brewery of Alfreton.

The star of the show will be the portfolio of brews from The White Lion's on sister brewery, the Old Sawley Brewing Company. Old Sawley is based at the Tamworth Road site and beer lovers will be able to sample seven beers from their range of high quality, traditional ales. This includes the celebrated Plummeth the Hour, a plum crumble porter which won a silver medal at this year's SIBA Midlands Independent Beer Awards. "This is the biggest event in Sawley's calendar" Head Brewer Roo Stone said. "We're delighted to showcase our beers at the festival, as well as welcoming some of our favourite neighbouring breweries to Sawley. It's a fantastic opportunity to sample new flavours both from our region and the best from the rest of the UK."

Festival goers can pick up 6 tokens for £10 to enjoy the festival beers in the spacious gardens of The White Lion, with CAMRA members getting a further discount on this price. As well as the incredible selection of beer and ciders on offer, guests will be kept entertained with an array of live music across the weekend. Highlights include alternative Indie rock from the MockingJays Band on Friday evening, along with Midlands-based tribute band Oasisn't on the Saturday night. As ever, there will be a steady supply of pizza being made in the wood-fired pizza oven in the garden to keep hunger at bay.
